I’m thrilled to be making my Music@Menlo debut this summer with two astounding programs. The entire season is influenced by the music of J.S. Bach and this program starts with his Concerto for Two Pianos and slowly winds its way through history until we arrive at Béla Bartók’s groundbreaking Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion.
This piece was one of the first to showcase percussion as a serious vehicle for chamber music, and it remains a classic of the repertoire. I’ll be joined by piano luminaries Gilbert Kalish and Wu Han and percussionist Chris Froh.
