Tomorrow afternoon is a special one – Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Luther Adams‘ Strange and Sacred Noise at Trinity Wall Street with Sandbox Percussion.
This monumental hourlong percussion quartet is one of JLA’s masterpieces. It’s an incredibly intense piece to perform, and in the right acoustic can be a truly singular listening experience. Trinity is one such acoustic – it’s a huge church that resonates forever. We’ve placed the instruments for Strange and Sacred Noise all over the church, so it will almost be more of an installation than a traditional concert. I guarantee you’ve never heard anything like it before.
Here’s a little video introducing the piece. The show is FREE and at 1pm at Trinity Wall Street. More info here. Out-of-towners can also stream the show live right here, but if you’re around, I highly recommend checking it out in person!
